Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Download SIU ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Download SIU desktop application (the "App", built with Electron and protected by our custom security system) and the website downloadsiu.com (the "Site"). By using the App or the Site, you accept the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information required to deliver your license, keep it tied to your computer, and prevent fraud:

• Identity and contact data: your name, email address, and phone number, provided by you when you purchase a plan or write to us through the contact form. We use it to deliver your license code by email and to provide support. The free trial collects none of this: it is activated from inside the App and sends only your computer's hardware code, so no name, email or phone is involved.
• Hardware identifiers: a 16-character hardware code (HW-ID) and a list of your computer's hardware components (such as CPU, motherboard, and memory). The App generates this locally and sends it only when activating or validating your license. It is used exclusively to bind your license to one (1) PC and to detect unauthorized sharing.
• Security and anti-abuse records: your IP address, security events reported by the App (for example, tampering attempts against the protected application files), and rate-limit records used to block brute-force attacks against our servers.
• Purchase and license history: the plan you bought (trial, monthly, annual, or lifetime), the amount paid, dates of purchase and expiration, and Stripe session identifiers used for payment verification and accounting.

2. What We Do NOT Collect

This is the most important part of our privacy promise:

• Your downloads are processed locally. The links you paste are resolved and downloaded 100% on your own computer by the open-source tools yt-dlp and FFmpeg embedded in the App — the media itself never passes through our servers. One narrow exception, for reliability only: when a download finishes or fails, the App sends a small anonymous diagnostic event that includes the source link and any error message (see Anonymous Reliability Diagnostics below), so we can fix broken sites faster. It is never tied to your name, email, license or hardware code.
• We never collect your download history as a profile. We do not build a record of the titles, names, or content of the videos, series, or audio files you download, and we never store the files themselves.
• We never scan, read, or upload your personal files, documents, or media. Downloaded files are saved directly by you to the folder you choose.
• We do not use analytics, advertising trackers, or third-party tracking cookies on the Site.

Anonymous Reliability Diagnostics

The websites the App downloads from change constantly, which breaks extraction. To detect and fix this quickly, the App sends a small fire-and-forget diagnostic event when a download succeeds or fails. Each event contains only:

• the source link (our server keeps just the site's domain plus a short truncated sample);
• the error message, if the download failed (truncated);
• the App version, your operating system (e.g. "win32"), and the quality you chose.

It contains no name, email, license code, or hardware code, and never the downloaded file or its content. It is not linked to your identity. We process it under our legitimate interest in keeping the downloader reliable, and use it solely to fix broken sites. Repeated identical events are de-duplicated and the request is best-effort (it never blocks or slows your download).

3. How We Use Your Information

• To generate, deliver, and validate your license code.
• To bind each license to a single computer, as described in our Terms of Service.
• To add purchased time to your existing license when you renew (your remaining time is always respected and added to — never reduced).
• To send transactional emails: license delivery, purchase confirmation, and support replies.
• To prevent fraud, brute-force attacks, and unauthorized use of the App or our servers.
• To check for and deliver software updates from downloadsiu.com (when the App checks for updates, your IP address may appear in standard web server logs, like any visit to any website).

4. Legal Bases for Processing

We process your data because: (a) it is necessary to perform our contract with you (delivering and validating your license); (b) you gave consent by submitting the trial, purchase, or contact forms; (c) we have a legitimate interest in preventing fraud and protecting our software; and (d) we must meet legal and tax obligations for purchase records.

5. Who We Share Data With

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers strictly needed to operate:

• Stripe — payment processing (receives your email and payment details at checkout, under Stripe's own privacy policy; Stripe may set its own cookies during checkout).
• Our email/SMTP provider — to deliver license and confirmation emails.
• Our web hosting provider — which stores the license database and server logs on infrastructure located in the United States.

We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights.

6. Cookies

The Site is a static website: it does not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies. The only third-party cookies you may encounter are those set by Stripe on its own checkout pages for fraud prevention, which are governed by Stripe's policies.

7. Data Retention

• License and purchase records are kept while your license is active and afterwards for the period required by tax and accounting laws.
• Security and rate-limit logs (including IP addresses) are rotated and deleted periodically; they exist only to protect the service.
• Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to answer you.

8. How We Protect Your Data

• All traffic between the App, the Site, and our servers uses HTTPS encryption.
• License records are stored on a hardened server with strict access rules; configuration files and credentials are never publicly accessible.
• The App itself is protected by our custom security system: its program files are encrypted and integrity-verified. This system only manages the App's own protected and temporary files — it never deletes, modifies, or uploads your personal files.
• Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe under PCI-DSS standards.

9. Your Rights

You may request at any time: access to the data we hold about you, correction of inaccurate data, deletion of your data (note: deleting license records makes your license unusable), or a copy/export of your data. Users in the European Economic Area (GDPR), the United Kingdom, and California (CCPA/CPRA) have these and additional statutory rights, which we honor for all users equally. To exercise any right, write to us through our Contact page.

10. Age Requirement

Download SIU is intended only for persons 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. International Users

Our servers and providers are located in the United States. By using the App or the Site from another country, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data in the United States as described in this policy.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always shows the current version. Continued use of the App or Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.

Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of the Download SIU desktop application and the downloadsiu.com website. By downloading, installing, activating, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. The Service

Download SIU is a desktop application for personal computers that allows you to download video and audio content from publicly accessible sources on the internet, process it locally on your own machine (using the embedded open-source tools yt-dlp and FFmpeg), and save it to a folder of your choice. The App is built with Electron and protected by a custom security system that encrypts and integrity-checks its own program files.

2. Eligibility

You must be 18 years of age or older to use the App or purchase a plan. By using the service you declare that you meet this requirement.

3. License Plans and Activation

• We offer paid plans (monthly, annual, and lifetime), as described on our Plans page.
• We also offer a free 5-day trial, activated from a button inside the App. It requires no account, no email and no payment card: the App sends only your computer's hardware code. Each computer may activate the trial once, after which a paid plan is required.
• Each purchase generates one unique, non-transferable license code, delivered instantly to your email.
• Each license may be activated on one (1) computer only. The license is bound to that computer's hardware identifier. A code already activated on another PC cannot be reused.
• You are responsible for keeping your license code confidential. Do not share it with anyone.

4. Payments

• Prices are shown in US dollars on the Plans page and are processed securely by Stripe.
• We never see or store your card details (see our Privacy Policy above).
• Your license code is delivered by email immediately after Stripe confirms your payment.

5. Refund Policy

Because licenses are digital goods delivered instantly by email, refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, at our sole discretion. If you experience a genuine problem — for example, a payment completed without receiving your license, or a technical issue that we cannot resolve — write to us through the Contact page and we will review your case individually and fairly.

6. Acceptable Use and Copyright

• The App is a neutral tool. You are solely responsible for the content you choose to download and for complying with the laws of your country and the terms of the websites you download from.
• Only download content that you have the legal right to download and store: your own content, content in the public domain, content with a license that permits downloading, or content for which you have the rights holder's permission.
• You may not use the App to infringe copyright, to illegally distribute protected content, or to circumvent technological protection measures where prohibited by law.
• We do not host, store, provide, or have any knowledge of the content you download — all downloads happen directly between your computer and the source site.

7. Prohibited Conduct

• Sharing, reselling, or publishing your license code.
• Attempting to activate one license on multiple computers.
• Reverse-engineering, decompiling, bypassing, or attacking the App's security system, the license system, or our servers.
• Using the App for any unlawful purpose.

Violation of these rules may result in license revocation without refund, and where appropriate, legal action.

8. Software Security System and Your Files

To protect the App from tampering and piracy, its program files are encrypted and verified at runtime. If the security system detects manipulation of the App itself, it may refuse to run and may delete only the App's own protected and temporary working files. The security system never deletes, modifies, reads, or uploads your personal files, downloads, or documents.

9. Updates

The App can automatically check downloadsiu.com for new versions. Updates may add features, fix bugs, or adjust how the App works. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept these Terms as they read at that time.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted operation. Third-party websites change constantly, and we do not guarantee that downloading will work on every site at all times.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including lost profits, lost data, or claims by third parties — arising from your use or inability to use the App. Our total liability shall never exceed the amount you actually paid for your current plan.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, damage, or expense arising from your misuse of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third party's rights (including copyright).

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States of America, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the service shall be resolved before the competent courts of the United States.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. The version published on this page, with its "Last updated" date, is the one in force. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance.

Download-SIU for Windows (PC) — App Notice & Responsible Use

This section applies specifically to the Download-SIU desktop application for Windows. It is published by the same team as Download SIU, and the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service above apply to it in full. The points below explain how they apply to a desktop downloader, audio extractor, and video converter. By installing, activating, or using the app you accept both the general terms above and this section.

1. Everything Runs on Your Computer

Download-SIU processes media 100% locally on your own PC, using the bundled open-source tools yt-dlp and FFmpeg. The links you paste are resolved on your machine, and the files you download, the audio you extract, and the files you convert never pass through our servers. We do not receive or store the URLs you paste, your file names, your download history, or the contents of any file you process. Our servers only know that a license exists and which computer it belongs to.

2. Optional Metadata Removal — Your Choice

The app includes an optional "Clean / remove metadata" switch. When you turn it on, embedded tags such as title, author, and comment fields are stripped from the files the app produces — across every function that processes a file: downloading video, extracting audio, and the converter. This switch is off by default and only stays on if you choose to enable it.

This feature is provided as a convenience for privacy and file housekeeping (for example, removing tags from your own recordings before you share them). Whether to remove or preserve metadata is entirely at your discretion, and you are solely responsible for the consequences of doing so — including any attribution, authorship, licensing, or record-keeping obligations that may attach to a file. Metadata such as author or source information can be an indication of ownership; removing it from content you do not own may have legal or ethical consequences that are your responsibility alone.

3. Video & Audio Converter — Your Choice

The app includes a converter that changes the format, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, or codec of media files you already have on your computer and select yourself. Conversion runs locally with FFmpeg; the source files and the converted output stay on your device and are never uploaded to us. The converter does not download anything — it only transforms files you provide.

What you convert, and what you do with the result, is entirely at your discretion and your responsibility. You should convert only files you own or have permission to modify. Converting, re-encoding, or redistributing content you do not hold the rights to may infringe copyright or other laws in your country, and the responsibility for that rests entirely with you.

4. Updates

The app periodically checks https://downloadsiu.com/updates/download-siu/ for a newer version and, with your confirmation, downloads and installs it. As with any web request, your IP address may appear in standard server logs during that check. No information about your downloads or conversions is sent during an update.

5. Responsible Use — Your Responsibility

Download-SIU is a neutral tool that downloads, extracts, and converts the media you point it to. You are solely responsible for what you download or convert and for how you use it.

• Download or convert only material you own or have permission to save or modify, or content whose licence allows it.
• Do not use the app to download, convert, redistribute, monetize, or pass off as your own any content you do not hold the rights to.
• Respect the terms of service of the websites you use and the copyright law of your country.

6. Age and Acceptance

Download-SIU is intended only for persons 18 years of age or older. By using it you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you accept this section together with the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service on this page.

WaterClean — App Notice & Responsible Use

WaterClean is not a separate app. It is the watermark-removal tab built into the Download-SIU desktop application — same install, same license, same account. The Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Download-SIU (PC) section above apply to it in full, including how updates work and what data the app sends. The points below add what's specific to the watermark-removal tab.

1. Your Videos Stay on Your Computer

WaterClean processes video 100% locally on your own PC, using the embedded open-source tool FFmpeg and, for AI Mode, a local AI engine downloaded once and run entirely on your machine. We never receive, upload, scan, or store:

• the videos you open, mark, or export;
• their file names, contents, thumbnails, or metadata;
• the watermarks or logos you remove or the ones you add.

2. Optional Cloud AI Mode — Your Own Key, Your Own Account

Inside AI Mode, you may optionally connect your own account with a third-party cloud AI provider by entering your own API key inside the app, for faster or higher-quality reconstruction than the local engine. If you choose to do this, the relevant portion of your video is uploaded to that provider's servers, under your own account and their own terms and privacy policy, to be processed and returned to you. Your API key is stored encrypted, locally on your device; we never see it, transmit it to our servers, or store a copy of it. We are not a party to that exchange and have no visibility into it. Using the cloud option is always optional and off by default — the local engine works without any account or key.

3. Responsible Use — Your Responsibility

WaterClean is a neutral editing tool. A watermark, logo, or channel bug is often a mark of ownership or attribution, and removing it can have legal consequences. You are solely responsible for how you use it and for the videos you edit with it.

• Use WaterClean only on material you own or have permission to edit: your own recordings, footage you have licensed, videos carrying your own former logo, or content for which you hold the rights owner's explicit permission.
• Do not remove watermarks, logos, or attribution from someone else's video in order to re-upload, redistribute, monetize, or pass it off as your own. Doing so may infringe copyright, trademark, moral rights, or unfair-competition laws in your country.
• Do not use the app to remove security marks, forensic watermarks, or notices whose removal is prohibited by law or by the terms under which you received the content.
• You are responsible for complying with the laws of your country and with the terms of any platform or agreement that applies to the content you edit.

4. Age and Acceptance

WaterClean is intended only for persons 18 years of age or older, same as the rest of Download-SIU. By using it you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you accept this section together with the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service on this page.

Subtitle + AI — App Notice & Responsible Use

This section applies to the Subtitle + AI tab (transcription and translation) and the voice/music separation helper feature used by it and by the Convert tab. Both are built into Download-SIU — same install, same license. The Privacy Policy and Terms of Service above apply in full; the points below cover what's specific to these AI features.

1. Local by Default

By default, transcription, translation, voice/music separation, and AI dubbing (detecting who speaks and synthesizing a new voice track in another language) run with local AI engines, downloaded once and processed entirely on your PC. Your audio, video, and the subtitles, separated tracks, or dubbed audio generated from them are never uploaded to our servers and never leave your computer.

2. Optional Cloud Engines — Your Own Key, Your Own Account

You may optionally connect your own account with a third-party AI provider (for transcription and translation: OpenAI and/or DeepL; for voice/music separation: LALAL.AI) by entering your own API key inside the app. If you choose to do this:

• Your API key is stored encrypted, locally on your device — we never see it, transmit it to our servers, or store a copy of it.
• The audio, video, or text you process is sent directly from your PC to that provider's own servers, under your own account and their own terms and privacy policy. We are not a party to that exchange and have no visibility into it.
• Any usage cost charged by the provider is between you and them — we do not bill or mark up that usage.

Using a cloud engine is always optional and off by default; the local engine works without any account or key.

3. No Guarantee of Accuracy

AI-generated transcriptions and translations can contain errors, omissions, or misinterpretations, whether produced locally or by a cloud provider. You are responsible for reviewing the output before relying on, publishing, or distributing it. We make no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of AI-generated subtitles or translations for any purpose.

4. Responsible Use — Your Responsibility

Use these features only on audio or video you own or have permission to transcribe, translate, or process. You are responsible for complying with the copyright and privacy laws of your country regarding any content — including recordings of other people's voices — that you run through these features.

Download-SIU for Android (APK) — App Notice & Responsible Use

This section applies specifically to the Download-SIU Android app (APK), distributed directly from https://downloadsiu.com (not through an app store). It is published by the same team as Download SIU, and the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service above apply to it in full. The points below explain how they apply to a mobile downloader. By installing, activating, or using the app you accept both the general terms above and this section.

1. What the App Sends — and What It Never Does

The app is built around a license, not an identity. To activate and work, it sends only:

• a randomly generated device code (16 hexadecimal characters) and your license key, so your plan or free trial can be recognised;
• when you download, the link you paste — encoded and sent to our extraction service so it can look up the available formats and return the direct download addresses.

We do not collect your name, email, or phone number for the free trial, we do not host or store the videos or audio you download (they travel directly from the source to your device), and we do not build advertising profiles. The app contains no ads and no third-party trackers. Your download history and in-app browser history stay on your device and can be cleared by you at any time. A short-lived cache of extraction results (about 10 minutes) may exist on our server so a popular link isn't re-processed for every user; it holds technical format data, not your identity.

2. Permissions

• Internet — required, to reach the source of your download and our license service.
• Storage / files — to save the videos and audio you download to your device and rebuild your library.
• Camera — optional, used only if you choose to scan a QR code to link your phone with the PC app. No images are stored or transmitted.

3. "Send to PC" Bridge

If you enable it, the app can hand a link to the Download-SIU PC app on the same account — useful when a site won't allow a direct download on your phone. In that case the link and your chosen options (quality, format, audio) are stored briefly as a job for your account so your computer can pick it up; the download then runs on your PC. That job record is deleted once the task finishes, and the resulting file never passes through our servers.

4. Updates

Because the app is distributed directly and not through an app store, it periodically checks https://downloadsiu.com/updates/download-siu-apk/ for a newer version and, with your confirmation, downloads and installs it. As with any web request, your IP address may appear in standard server logs during that check. No information about your downloads is sent during an update.

5. Responsible Use — Your Responsibility

Download-SIU is a neutral tool that saves media you point it to. You are solely responsible for what you download and how you use it.

• Download only material you own or have permission to save, or content whose licence allows it (for example, your own uploads or clearly reusable media).
• Do not use the app to download, redistribute, monetize, or pass off as your own any content you do not hold the rights to. Doing so may infringe copyright or other laws in your country.
• Respect the terms of service of the websites you use. Some platforms restrict downloading; where a site does not allow it, the app may be unable to help, and using it against a platform's terms is your responsibility.
• You are responsible for complying with the laws of your country and with any agreement that applies to the content you access.

6. Optional Metadata Removal — Your Choice
